Aotea Barn is the heart of Aotea Organic farm. With over 400 acres of coastal land, it is one of the oldest organic farms in New Zealand.

 

Architecturally designed and purpose built the barn will produce premium meats and artisan goods from beef, lamb, venison and fish, as well as vegan. 

 

Echoing our family’s provenance, the building’s classic lines pay homage to traditional farming origins. Inside, we have meticulously designed the layout and equipment to facilitate organic food processing and curing to the highest standards. 

 

Aotea Organics is owned and run by Dan and Kazuyo Friedlander. Aotea Barn Hand Crafted and Artisan meats has been developed in collaboration with consultant Wilhelm Zabern. Austrian born Zabern is a master meat artist with forty years experience in the international food and meat industry.  Zabern has previously been ranked as one of the top three meat production specialists in the world. He has operated in the retail market, export, production, sales and taught at MIT.

 

Currently in the first phase of production, Aotea Barn will progress to full organic processing and offers clients the opportunity to develop premium artisan meats in collaboration with Zabern and Aotea Organics.
